Saturnine Wolf Priest

Image
This chunky fellow on the left is my take of a Space Wolf, WolfPriest in Saturnine Terminator armour from over a decade ago. I also started a Saturnine Tetminator squad. I believe I made three. I'm contemplating including this bad boy in my force. The question is, should I complete him and the Termie squad to include in my Wolf force or not? Intercessor for scale.

Bringing grey into colour

This bank holiday weekend I had planned to get loads of Wolves painted. However, this didn't happen as I wasn't happy with the colours that I was using. Its been years since I have painted any of the Vlka Fenryka for tabletop and I find the modern blue of the wolves a bit too Ultramarine. On the flipside if i went for a complete grey like my Heresy Wolfs then ot would also feel wrong. There has to be some happy medium. You can see in the above image how I had originally gone for the "Wolf Blue" colour, but I'm not happy with it. I  want a blue tint, but not an overwhelming blue. Like my old Space Pup force, which has gone the way of the Dodos! That being said, I am happy with how my Fenrisian Wolves are coming out. They just need a bit of highlighting on the fur and a little touch up in some areas. If the released images of the new box set is anything to go by then it is likely that you'll have 3 wolves attached ...

Pack Leader Update

Image
Last night I was going to leave filling in the empty gaps until tonight. However, I decided that I had to do it so I could detail it when I get home, later. I decided that I would get a bit of a pult going on around his waist, so made sure to create a base to sculpt the fur onto. As you can see there is enough shape and support there to make it look interesting and have something to push the putty against. I also made sure that there was only enough filling done so as not to impede sculpting the undergarment detail later. I had enough putty left over to start push8ng it into the moulds I had made. I ooted for the two headed chest plate from the firstborn Grey Hunters box set as well as using an Agressors shoulderpad (from the upgrade sprue) for the wolf symbol. I was going to leave it there until tonight, but I couldn't.  This morning, as I was getting ready for work, I couldn't help but demould the push mould pieces. The chest piece fits well, though I want to add some more...

A New Wolf Guard Pack Leader

Image
So, to start things off with my Primaris Space Pup force I decided I would create an alternate to my current Pack Leader armed simply with a Bolt pistol and Chainsword. I'm hedging my bets that in the new codex you'll be able to attach them to a bloodclaws pack. Who knows. Either way it's been a bit of fun. I started with a collection of parts that included the badic 1:56 scale mar8ne components I had made for my truescale marine project from years ago. It was based on the Jes Goodwin soace marine design from his Gothic and Eldritch art book. Always loved the shape of it and thought it would be a fun addition to the army. Also, it would s5abd out from the rest. I selected all of the parts that I thought would fit the idea of an advancing Pack Leader, similar to the Combat Patrol one that was released not too long ago. I thought the pose and the bulky armour would look great. I started by putting the legs together in a position that would resemble a kind of job forwards. I p...
